I hope everyone had a nice weekend.
s usual, I didn’t work much on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Normally, I use a small portion of Sunday to plan out the upcoming week. So today was mostly about logistics and operations. I dedicated about an hour to putting together three significant updates regarding the robot. I’ll roll those out on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. I am sure I’ve posted some of this stuff before – but gaging by many of the comments, I guess a lot of you haven’t see this stuff. Take care, mjl

Hi,
f this is a national holiday for you, I hope you’re having fun with people you care about. I got myself a little sunburned yesterday. It’s been in the high 80’s to low 90’s for about two weeks now. But I’d been stuck indoors for most of it. So, I took advantage of the holiday and spent some time in the sun. As for the project, I spent some time working with Isaac on the art show. We scheduled it for the 20th of August – to coincide with the International Space Elevator Conference and with the city’s Art Walk. He and I will sort through about 30,000 images, and whittle that down to 500 key images. From that, we’ll see what we’ve got, and decide from there. We also have a couple terabytes of video that we’re trying to sort out. I’m not sure what we’re going to do with that, just yet. We’re thinking about a retrospective of the whole Space Elevator story – from 2001 to where we’re at now. It should be fun! I’m looking forward to it. As this evolves further, I’ll keep you posted. I’ve got another meeting with Isaac on Monday. Take care, mjl Here’s a short update for before the holiday (If you’re not from the United States, you may not know that most everything shuts down for Independence Day).
As you know, I’m mostly working on accounting, budgeting and communications right now. Nothing significant beyond that happened today. I don’t anticipate anything over the next couple days. That said, I promised updates, and I’m going to continue with that agreement. In other Space Elevator related news, I found this recently – the US Office of Science and Technology Policy posted a call for Grand Challenges in the NanoTechnology community . Of note, one of the primary interests will focus on ultra-strong, ultra-lightweight materials. Naturally, a breakthrough like that will have revolutionary ripple effects across all aspects of modern living – cars, planes, construction of buildings. But just maybe, we’ll see a breakthrough that allows for the development of the Space Elevator. As far as I know, this is the first time this has been raised to a National Priority. It gives me hope for the future. Take care, mjl Heya!
oday was the kind of day I hoped it would be! I spent the morning working on the accounting and budgeting. It’s a two-part process; I have to review the paperwork and notes, and receipts of the past several year. Then, I need to figure out the budget for the upcoming years. Sounds dull, because it is dull. It’s also a lot more challenging than I’d like it to be. I’ve moved four times and had three different checking accounts since I restarted LiftPort. I aim to have part of it done after the holiday weekend. Can’t say how long the second part will take. At a minimum, it will take a couple weeks. As I said yesterday, I’ll share the results. But that’s not the important aspect of the day. What was important was the three hours I spent with Dr. Lynette, and the two hours with the attorney, Arthur. The meeting between the three of us went well. They like each other, and like our project. Verbally, they agreed to work together on a big project. They each have to get permissions from their ‘higher-ups’, but assuming they get that, then I’ll release some more information about them. I am very happy today. Even though this isn’t the kind of update a lot of you want… it is an important one. It means there is a path forward for this larger project of the Lunar Space Elevator Infrastructure AND a path forward for your rewards. I’ll share more once I’ve got permissions and contracts signed. Take care, mjl |
