Hey, I just got this crazy cool idea

If anyone reading this happens to know how to use google sketch up fairly well, they could make one and send it into google, i'm sure one could make it the right height, etc etc, and accuratly represent it on the ground, as well as in GEO. If possible i imagine that one could get google to put it in the default viewing of google earth, with the 3d buildings turned on. Not to mention the posibility of getting it in the world tour of google earth, or on the "New Things to see" list.  Links and such would be available from there directly. Smiley

At the moment i am preocupied with Other projects related to the SE, so i will be unable to construct such a beast untill after the summer.

Just another way to raise awareness..  Wink Lemme Know whatcha think.

That's a cool idea.  I just actually just discovered Google SketchUp yesterday :-)  It looks like there is a free version and a "Pro" for-pay version, but I have not had time to investigate further.

I've done some playing around with google earth, did some tests, and i belive it could be possible to put a full scale SE in the program.  It would be pretty cool i think, just imagining a needle sticking out of google earth...
Ahh yes, i'll get on that more seriously later though.  Cool

It seems that building a space elevator in google earth has already happened, just to see if it would fit, and yes, it does fit, it can be a very tall structure.  One just needs to find a way of putting information links/zoom links, on the elevator at certain points, anchorstation, lifter etc.
