On 2 May 2007 an anonymous addition was made to the Wikipedia's Space Elevator page.
It says "As of 2007, a space elevator was being designed by NASA".

This surprised me because I thought financial cut backs had stopped NASA's space elevator work.  They are just hoping to rent time on a private sector built elevator.  Has anyone any information (or rumours) either way?

I suppose some NASA employees design space elevators when they are goofing off. I don't look for more than 1% of NASAs budget to be space elevators until cheap CNT (or equivelent) is available with great specs.  Neil
