MP3s from Conference on World Affairs
This is the beginning of several posts relating to the same overall topic. CWA was an amazing place. Centered around a small campus in Boulder Colorado, once a year for the past 59 years, some brilliant and amazing people have been brought together to just chat – with themselves, and with the general public. There were about 200 guests (I was stunned to have been asked to participate) and 50,000 general public attendees. It is free to the public, and there are about 40 events each day for 5 days. These events cover every imaginable topic – sex, relationships, space, jazz, Iraq/ Iran/Afghanistan, Middle East policy, global warming, religion, media, advanced technology, philosophy and “paradise”.
So, I just today got about 2 dozen mp3s of several of the talks I had, and more important to me, several of the tracks that I didn’t get to attend, because they were scheduled at the same time as one of mine.
Let me say something about the people I met – amazing. Really, really amazing. Look over their resumes and just imagine hanging out with them, in the mornings, getting organized, passing in the hallways, at the parties in the evening – and exchanging views. One thing it has taught me is that I am dating the wrong kind of women… J
Anyway, I will be posting the files as soon as I can figure out how to post a big file. They are about 65mg and about an hour and a half long. The format for the week was this: each of four panelist talk about the topic for about 10 minutes each. Then, they talk amongst themselves for a moment, to discuss the points that the fellow panelists had. Then, they open it up to the public to ask questions for the balance of the time.
I will comment on each file as they are posted. I hope you like them, I sure liked doing it, and look forward to it again next year. (I hope I am asked back! It’s a rotating guest list and I don’t have any guarantees). I talk a lot about the Space Elevator, but then I also talk about social policy, media, and business. It was at the CWA that I broke story that I was in big financial trouble. I hope to go back next year and tell them this this plan of mine, worked!
When I was signing a book for someone, I wrote something like ‘while I was out changing the world, my world changed…’ If I had to lose a fortune, the CWA was the best place in the world I could have been for that to happen. Some of the relationships I formed there, might be instramental to the future of this project. More on that later, if it develops into anything.
Listen, Think, Enjoy.
Take care. Mjl
p.s. Whatever your travels take you this weekend, go in joy.
