No one as finalized a space elevator design. Moving cables vs lifters is a bee in his bonnet. Which is fine but … we’re going for a design that can be built with as little R+D as possible. We think this means a lifter model. We’re willing to be wrong – it’s that whole ‘being nimble’ and ‘turning on a dime’ thing.
I’m not sure (38:04) that the Navy will let him have Enterprise but you never know.
It’s not clear if Keith means that a nuclear powered aircraft carrier is a must-have but if it is … any biz plan that states “buying a one-of-a-kind asset from the Government is a must-have” … well that’s a non-starter.
My feeling is that he’s way too optimistic about having great hordes of people retreating into virtual life and abandoning the real world.
