Former Office of LiftPort Group
DSC02485, originally uploaded by Space Elevator Guy.
So, this is the building that I used to own. It is 5 Stories tall, about 38,000SqFt and had about 26 renters. I have blogged about the process of loosing in, a little bit. There are some links that tell the story of when I lost it, (http://almostgirl.coffeespoons.org/?p=1109) but I figured I would provide some visual aids.
There are several images of it, online, but this is one of my favorites. It is not even the best photo, really. This picture is taken from across the street, at the back of the building. The first floor is blocked from this angle. The LiftPort office was at the top, right hand corner, here. We looked out over the ocean, and the new construction that is going on downtown. It was pretty nice. It was built in 1947, just at the boomtown of Bremerton – and just as the population started going home after WWII. I owned it from 1995-2007, and nurtured it, as its value rose from $550,000 to $3M.
Why is this one of my favorite images of it? Because a lot off goofy stuff happened here. We – personally – climbed up and down the outside, using rappelling gear and powered ascenders for various tests. We experimented with most of our robots, here, first, before they went anywhere. Can you imagine them climbing up and down? I remember once I was in a meeting, about 80 miles away, when I got a text message – “Robot Fell” – You can imagine that my heart stopped, when I read that. It turns out, that it was a prank, and that they thought it was really funny. That is the kinda team I have. We used this point to test our long-distance wireless comm., sending signals out, over the water to a remote location, 2 or 3 miles away.
I had dreams of LiftPort growing, and eventually taking over the whole building, and truly becoming our international headquarters. I was pretty angry and upset when I lost it, but it has been almost 7 months, and I am adjusting to it. The impacts are profound, and I will be feeling it for a long time, but for now, I am adjusting.
This set shows various views of the surrounding area, sunsets. It is under a total revitalization effort, so there are construction cranes all over the place.

This set is taken near the office, about 5 miles. But the first 2 images are the sunset view from the building. I would watch this from the 5th floor office, and the roof, all the time.

This is the rest of this original set, for additional views.

Finally, this set is of random images taken of the area, while some of the new buildings were under construction.
