Our newsletters are our most important tool for communication and feedback. The number of subscribers directly relates to our clout both within the space elevator community, with politicians, and with the world at large. That clout builds the social/political leg, and paves the way for building the legal leg of the four pillars.
At this time, Nyein Aung - our very talented artist, is away at college in Australia. His busy schedule prevents his writing his monthly newsletter.
The contest responses started out well, but quickly died off. We want to continue this newsletter. We need to find out why people aren’t participating and address that problem.
The LiftPort web site is one of the most important assets for promoting the LiftPort Space Elevator. The priorities for the web site are:
Speaking engagements are a great way to directly spread the message about the LiftPort Space Elevator project and get immediate feedback. Speaking also gives us a chance to directly market our products.
Identify outside media assets that can promote the LiftPort Space Elevator or other LiftPort branded products. Develop content for and promote those assets. Identify methods of monetizing those assets.
Flickr is probably the most widely known photo sharing service. Another service called Zooomr offers some more advanced features such as selling photos. However, there is currently no way to copy photos (with titles, descriptions, tags, etc.) from Flickr to Zooomr. Such a tool would be useful.
Tim Chemacki has volunteered to lead this effort.
vSocial is a video sharing service with a few features unavailable on YouTube such as branding for players, ability to make money through ads, and the ability to pull feeds from Flickr, Twitter, etc. Some videos have been added, but the descriptions are not complete.
Need to create convert vSocial account to a commercial one to begin inserting ads. Initial attempts were unsuccessful. Currently waiting to hear from vSocial in response to support request.
YouTube is the most well-known video sharing service. Some videos have been added, but the descriptions are not complete.
Although Google owns YouTube, it also has its own separate video service. After adding videos to YouTube, we will also add them to Google Video. Some videos have been added, but the descriptions are not complete.
Ustream.tv provides the ability to stream live video as well as record live streams for later playback. This service needs to be further investigated.
