ABC's and National NanoTech Initiative

Here’s a short update for before the holiday (If you’re not from the United States, you may not know that most everything shuts down for Independence Day).

As you know, I’m mostly working on accounting, budgeting and communications right now. Nothing significant beyond that happened today. I don’t anticipate anything over the next couple days. That said, I promised updates, and I’m going to continue with that agreement.

In other Space Elevator related news, I found this recently – the US Office of Science and Technology Policy posted a call for Grand Challenges in the NanoTechnology community . Of note, one of the primary interests will focus on ultra-strong, ultra-lightweight materials. Naturally, a breakthrough like that will have revolutionary ripple effects across all aspects of modern living – cars, planes, construction of buildings. But just maybe, we’ll see a breakthrough that allows for the development of the Space Elevator.

As far as I know, this is the first time this has been raised to a National Priority. It gives me hope for the future.

Take care, mjl
